Colgate® Terracycle® Recycling program has resumed at Market Place Dental

Market Place Dental are resuming the Colgate® Terracycle® recycling program which unfortunately was suspended last year due to Covid 19.

Best practices for collecting

In order to recycle this waste stream properly, please make sure all excess product has been removed (i.e. leftover product) and place all the accepted packaging in the collection box in our reception area. 

Accepted Waste

  • Any brand of plastic toothbrush heads
  • Any brand of plastic toothbrushes   
  • Any brand of toothpaste tubes and caps
    Please remove as much toothpaste from the tube as possible 
  • Any brand of floss containers and outer packaging
  • Any brand of plastic toothbrush outer packaging
  • Any brand of toothpaste cartons
  • Any brand of electric and battery toothbrush heads

Waste that is NOT Accepted

  • Any toothbrushes not made from plastic
  • Reusable toothbrush handles
  • Interdental brushes
  • Battery operated toothbrushes
  • Dental floss (string)
  • Mouthwash plastic bottles
  • Breath sprays 
  • Denture adhesives packaging 
  • Denture tablets packaging 
  • Denture cream tubes 
  • Outer packaging that did not contain toothbrushes or dental floss
  • Cartons that did not contain toothpaste
  • Tubes that did not contain toothpaste
  • Toothpaste pumps
  • Toothache kits

What happens to this waste

Once collected, we send the items to Terracycle® where the oral care products and packaging are separated by polymer type, cleaned, and extruded into plastic pellets to make new recycled products.
